One definition of Leadership – Laurel C

The following blog was written by a student that attended one of my Leadership Labs. The writing was in response to the question “How would you define leadership?”
I believe that being a child of the Living God gives you an obligation to live and operate on a different level than the world. 1 Peter 1:13-16 says: “for this reason, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set you hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy’.” What does this have to do with leadership? I would say a great deal. Our mission is to reach the unsaved and to do that you must LEAD people in the way of truth.
You may not be in a position of leadership, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t a leader. Leadership is a way of life- a mindset that says, “I will accept the responsibility of this team and do whatever it takes to make the team more effective individually and as a whole.”
So I would encourage all those of you who doubt you position as a leader to look around and take notice of those who look up to you and seek your opinion- look for those that seem to lack direction and provide them with one, even if if it something as simple as which ask they should accomplish first. Work to inspire with your actions, encourage with your words, and improve others lives with your mental power.
