The following blog was written by a student that attended one of my Leadership Labs. The writing was in response to the question “How would you define leadership?”

Someone once told me, when I have asked about his success as a leader, that he preferred to share with me all the reasons why he failed. A year later, having work the weight of leadership myself, I find myself also remembering all the times I failed to listen, focus and discern. And as I’m trying to get a grip on “what is leadership”, I have come to the conclusion that a true leader is someone who meets their failures face to face and doesn’t give up. The act of leadership, then, is a pursuit.
Isn’t that why we admire our leaders? Because as we watch their lifestyle, we see them take a fall and resolve to stand back up.
